About Us

Welcome to Downpatrick Cricket Club, located in the heart of Downpatrick, Northern Ireland. We are proud to be one of the oldest and most prestigious cricket clubs in the United Kingdom. With a rich history dating back to 1855, we have been the home of passionate cricketers and a vibrant cricketing community.

At Downpatrick Cricket Club, we believe in the spirit of cricket, bringing together players of all ages and skill levels, from juniors to seniors, to enjoy the game we love. Our club is known for its inclusive and welcoming atmosphere, where players feel a strong sense of camaraderie and teamwork. Our dedicated coaching staff ensures that every player has the opportunity to develop their skills and reach their full potential. From mastering the basics to refining advanced techniques, we provide top-notch coaching for players at all levels. Our focus is on fostering a love for the game and helping our players grow both on and off the field.
Downpatrick Cricket Club takes great pride in nurturing young talent. Our junior cricket program is designed to inspire and develop the next generation of cricketers. Through fun and engaging training sessions, our young players learn the fundamentals of the game, build friendships, and create memories that last a lifetime.

Downpatrick Cricket Club is over 175 years old and boasts and long, rich and successful history in the Northern Cricket Union and wider Cricket Ireland competitions. Our ground, The Meadow, has hosted many domestic cricket finals and fifteen Senior International matches. Many of crickets greatest players have graced our ground Historically we have won the Irish Senior Cup on 2 occasions with Senior League success 6 times and we have lifted the Challenge Cup on 7 occasions. Our second eleven have won the Junior Cup 4 times with our junior teams having great success in various league and cup campaigns. We currently have a 1st XI playing in Section 2 of the NCU and our 2nd and 3rd Xi team play in the junior leagues. We also have a team entered in the midweek league. After an enforced break due to the global pandemic we have re-introduced Under-Age cricket at Under 11, 13 and 15 levels as well as having a female specific offering for both young girls and adults. As well as providing a valuable resource for our members we are also have strong links with schools in the local community to encourage cricket to be played at all ages. Downpatrick is well known as a cross community club and we are proud of this reputation providing a warm welcome to anyone who wants to come along and play or enjoy the atmosphere on a sunny summers afternoon
